Every Saturday, we take a look at notable and interesting Tabletop campaigns ending in the next week. We focus on RPG settings & adventures, accessories, and medium-heavy board games with interesting themes.
Last year, Steve Jackson games had a phenomenally succcessful Kickstarter for a relaunch of the classic Fantasy Trip an OSR (Old School Revival) RPG. This campaign is a quick one, designed to have a set of adventures ready for when the rules arrive. It features newly-written adventures for the system, and the stretch goals have been unlocking neat accessories like character folios.
Map Maker is a lot like Four Against the Darkness, which is to say its a RPG designed to be played solo, that focuses on sandbox mode gameplay. Like Four, Map Maker has ambitions to go beyond the base game and offer less sandbox-y adventures for playing a campaign. This Kickstarter is for a series of books to provide those adventures.
Dragons are always a desirable Miniature, and this Kickstarter offers some pretty neat sculpts. Of particular note is a griffon-riding knight (not pictured), which would be a pretty amazing piece to bring out on a game table.
Board & Card Games
Nocturion takes place in a post-apocalypse dark fantasy world. Each player will control a royal house and attempt to rebuild their empire. There’s actually shockingly little about the actual game on the Kickstarter page. But there is a rulebook. I took a gander, it appears this is a dice-as-workers-placement game. It has a lot of things going on including summoning beasts, equipping heirlooms, and rebuilding locations. This is by the publisher that is probably best-known for Dwar7s.
This is a simple tile-laying game where you are trying to build the best farms by laying down fences in a way to encircle animals. Looks like a light, fun play. It’s by a first-created team (it’s there second go at Kickstarter with this game.)
